Each film-coated tablet is available in blister packs of 30 and 90 tablets containing atorvastatin calcium equivalent to 10 mg atorvastatin and titanium dioxide as a coloring agent. LIPITOR is a white, round, film-coated tablet with "10" on one side and "ATV" on the other. LIPITOR belongs to the group of drugs called lipid regulators, also known as statins. It is used to lower cholesterol and triglyceride. Cholesterol is a naturally occurring substance that is essential for normal growth.
However, when cholesterol in the blood increases too much, it can be stored on the walls of blood vessels, causing the vessels to narrow and eventually block. This is one of the most common causes of heart disease. High cholesterol levels are considered to increase the risk of heart disease. LIPITOR alone is used to lower lipids known as cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood when low-fat diet or lifestyle changes fail. Although your cholesterol levels are normal; if you have an increased risk for heart disease, LIPITOR can also be used to reduce this risk. During treatment you should continue the standard cholesterol-lowering diet.
